The Fragile Feeling Of Desperation
A few months ago I wrapped up my first soundscape project under The Sands Of Ares titled The Fragile Feeling Of Desperation. I added a link below that will take you to the playlist I made on the YouTube channel I made just for the project. My idea with The Sands Of Ares project is to make some tracks that I can zone out to, meditate to, and just have fun messing around with sound while I'm making it. This is a project that I can randomly work on here and there whenever I have free time. I wanted the tracks to have elements of peacefulness and elements of friction. Sometimes I like really peaceful things to listen to while I meditate, and sometimes I need a little chaotic noise.

Music Project
I've been working on some music over the last few years. Some of it has been writing guitars, bass, and drums... but no lyrics yet. The project got sidelined due to schedules and lack of time. I've been playing around with more Soundscape stuff. It's mainly inspired by some of the interesting meditation journeys I've taken. It's a range of soft to irritating sounds, and is something that I assume most people wont like... but that's ok because I selfishly made the tracks for myself, and not for anyone else.
Some of my meditation exercises have taken me to peaceful places, scary places, neutral places, and I've felt, "seen," and experienced thing that I can't quite put into words.
This project that I decided to title Sands Of Ares is me trying to share these experiences. I got the title from a sifi show called For All Mankind. I've been watching a lot of science fiction movies lately and wanted that to be expressed within this project.

Jiu Jitsu (03-08-25)
Last night I got together with 3 of my friends/students and we did a 4 hour straight sparring session. Back in December a bunch of us got together on a Saturday night, and we rolled for a full hour straight with the same person. We had a really fun time and decided to make it a monthly practice. Then the decision was made to start making the sessions longer. I brought up that I thought it would be fun to try a 24 hour straight sparring session. With my ultrarunning background, this idea didn't seem too crazy, and some of the guys seemed interested in the idea.
We decided to get together the 2nd Saturday of every month, and to gradually extend the length of the sessions.
Our goal will be to do a 24 hour session this December as a fundraiser for The We Defy Foundation, a group that I have done a couple fundraising efforts for in the past. The support military vets by supplying them with a gi, and with an affiliated jiu jitsu to train. They people who run the foundation are amazing and do wonderful work.
Hopefully everything will work out, and this coming December we will host a successful fundraiser.

Gateway Meditation
I haven't written anything on here in a long time. Life just got a little too busy. I'm still keeping up with my meditation and the gateway process. I plan on doing the gateway tape that I left off on tomorrow. I need to make the time to keep up with them and continue my progress. I defiantly felt more grounded when I was using them regularly.
The YouTube channel I was posting the videos from is no longer up anymore, so I'll see if there is another way to post them.
I also have been using a mediation app called Expand and it uses the techniques from The Gateway Tapes, and is from the group that designed the original Gateway Tapes. I highly recommend checking it out. I try to use the Lucid Dreaming soundtrack that they have nightly.
