Flaws

A few months ago I made a pedal board to store and organize my guitar effect pedals. After I carefully measured everything, built it, painted it, placed the pedals in the exact way I wanted them set up... I noticed I messed up. I didn't leave enough clearance to plug my guitar into my wah pedal.

I had two options. I could add something under the wah pedal to raise it up enough so that the input jack would clear the side rail, or I could cut into the rail and make a clearance that way.

I decided I would cut into the rail and make some adjustments so I could plug my guitar into the wah pedal without it putting and unwanted pressure on the cable or input jack.

I'm not much of a carpenter. My tools slipped a few times taking off some extra paint. I figured it was no big deal because I was going to touch up the board anyway.

By the time I was done I looked at all the extra paint that had come off. I sanded the board down and was about to add a little bit of paint to it. After I looked at the board for a few mins I decided not to paint it. I'm just going to leave it how it is. This "flaw" will remind me to do a better job at double checking my next project before I say it's done. It also reminds me that not everything in life is perfect, and not everything has to be. I'm not perfect... in fact, I'm pretty flawed.

SWOLA 59 (My Drums with Guitar and Bass Tracks)

I decided that after I record my bi-weekly SWOLA Riff Challenge I'm going to go back and mute the drums that Ola provided and record my own drums to the guitar and bass tracks that I recorded.  It should be a fun process and help me in my new drumming journey.

SWOLA 59

Just got my entry for SWOLA 59 uploaded.  I actually used my bass and guitar cabinet today.  Now that the kids are in school I can make more noise at home.  I didn't need to use the direct recording method today!!

Headlands 150 Miler - Less Than 24 Hours Away

It's Wednesday night, and I should already be in bed.  I've half ass backed my bags for the Headlands 150 miler.  The event starts Thursday night at 5:00pm and there will be 9 of us doing the 150 mile distance.  The other distances will start between Friday night and Saturday morning.

I'm feeling excited, nervous, and a little depressed right now.  I wish I could say more, and I wish I could feel less.  I guess I'm looking forward to the 150 mile adventure in Marin.  It should be a good 50-60 hour adventure.  I want to write more, but I should already be in bed by now.  I don't feel like I can sleep, but I better fucking try.

5:00pm start time on Thursday... and hopefully a 5:00pm finish on Saturday if I'm lucky.

...until next time!!

Drums 08-12-21

I decided to pick up an Alesis electronic drum set the other day.  I have no idea how to play but thought it would be fun to finally try to learn the drums.  I've always wanted to learn how to play ever since I was little.  This video is of the very first time I sat down and tried to figure it out.  I recorded some basic guitar and bass tracks to play along with.  I'm going to try to post weekly videos of my progress, probably to the same guitar and bass track for a little bit.  I want to have a real comparison of my progress.

SWOLA 58

My latest video for the SWOLA (Sunday with Ola) riff challenge.  These are pretty fun, and have given me a reason to play guitar a little more that I might if I wasn't doing these.

...and Headlands 150 miler is one week away!!

until next time!!

Jamming With My Nephew 08-07-21

I've been going over to my sisters house every other Saturday to jam with my nephew Jack.  He gets better and better every time we get together. Here's a short video of us playing the other day.  I guess something was on the lens and the video is very blurry.

Until next time...
