Rodeo Beach 50k December 12th 2017
Back in December of 2017 Alisha and I went to Rodeo Beach and ran our first 50k together. At this point we we had been dating for a couple months and running a lot together. I was really excited to run this event with Alisha. Rodeo Beach is the start point of the Headlands 100, and the Rodeo Beach 50k used a lot of the same trails that the Headlands 100 uses.
This was also the first day of a fundraiser I did back back in December where I ran 26.2 miles (or more) for 10 days in a row. Having my first day of my 10 days of running on this trail system made the event even more special to me. I love running in the Marin Headlands area, and I was really excited to share this experience with Alisha.
Alisha has become my training partner, best friend, and we plan on getting married this year. She constantly pushes me to give my best effort, and is very encouraging in every aspect of my life.
It was awesome running the Rodeo Beach 50k with her. We were running on trails that I love running on, and we were still at the point of our relationship where we were still learning a lot about each other. Taking the entire day to drive up at a race, then run, and then drive back home gave us a lot of time to talk.
We have our second 50k lined up for this coming weekend. I'm really looking forward to running this distance with her again. She in better shape than I am right now, so I know that I'm probably going to struggle trying to stay on pace with her. She's getting stronger and stronger every race she runs, and has been running super strong this year. I'm pretty excited to see how fast we run the 50k this Saturday.
...hopefully she doesn't run it so fast that I can't keep up.
until next time...
KEEP RUNNING!!!!

03-21-18
The silence in the air
The feeling of despair
Looking for a meaning
Do I even care
The darkness felt inside
Nowhere left to hide
Time to step into the light
And stop living this lie
I worry that my yelling
Sounds like a bunch of screaming
Am I getting through
Is it losing all it's meaning
I step outside myself
Take a look from the outside
Not liking what I see
I run away and hide
The hardest person to face
Has always be myself
The hardest thing to ask for
Is a little bit of help
I sit and try to silence
That voice inside my head
I find some inspiration
And drag myself out of my bed
I need to make a change
This time for the better
I will not run and hide
I'll face this stormy weather
The feeling of despair
Looking for a meaning
Do I even care
The darkness felt inside
Nowhere left to hide
Time to step into the light
And stop living this lie
I worry that my yelling
Sounds like a bunch of screaming
Am I getting through
Is it losing all it's meaning
I step outside myself
Take a look from the outside
Not liking what I see
I run away and hide
The hardest person to face
Has always be myself
The hardest thing to ask for
Is a little bit of help
I sit and try to silence
That voice inside my head
I find some inspiration
And drag myself out of my bed
I need to make a change
This time for the better
I will not run and hide
I'll face this stormy weather

11-18-2017 SJRT 100k
On November 18th 2017 I ran the SJRT 100k. I ran this race back in 2014 when it was a 50 miler, and again in 2015 when it was changed to the 100k distance. Because of my schedule in 2016 I was unable to run this race. I was very happy to have a chance to get out on the trail and run this race again, especially after not being able to run it the year before.
One thing I really like about this race is the fact that it's a local race for me. It only takes me about 30 mins to get to the start line from my house. I also like that I get to run this race with all the local people that live around here. I do most of my training alone, so it's nice to be able to run a few miles with some friends at events like this.
The race started at 5:30am and it is dark for about the first hour of the run. Right before the sun was all the way up I thought to myself, "Maybe it would be ok to turn my headlamp off now." Right after this thought popped into my head, I fell. I decided to keep my headlamp on for a few more minutes.
Around 9:30am I made it to the aid station at mile 18.5ish. I went to my drop bag and got half a tri tip sandwich and a Mt Dew that I had pack away. At this point I was really hungry and the sandwich was tasting really good.
